ReadyNAS 1100 Backup Exec 2010 jobs failing
Our BackupExec 2010 R2 used to backup our ReadyNas 1100, but lately the jobs are failing with this error message:
Check status : Error: e0009b61, The job failed with the following error:
The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again.
This seems very straightforward. We've had to change the domain account that gives permission to resources. When I browse to the readynas1100, and go to Security, Security Mode, our domain information is filled in. I try putting the new account in for Domain Administrator, but just now, after I hit Apply, it seemed to take the new account, and then gave this error:
WARNING! Unsuccessful updating this system's DNS record on ADS server. Please check your DNS settings, or manually add this device to your network's DNS records.
Then it said
Successfully joined domain ...
The backup exec test job failed again, with the same error as above. Should I be changing a setting elsewhere in the ReadyNAS 1100 interface or within Backup Exec?
It is in DNS correctly, when I check with nslookup. I ran a test backup job and received the same error. I'm still finding my way around both the readynas and this version of backup exec, but I believe the same credentials are used to backup other Windows devices in the domain. What should I try?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat version of Windows on the Server?
What version of RAIDiator on the ReadyNAS? - oakerAspirantThe server has server 2003, Release 2, Standard x64 Edition, Service Pack 2.
Where do I see the version of RAIDiator? The copyright is 1996-2009 when I browse to it. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt should be mentioned on the home page of Frontview and also under the Info (far right) column in RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads)
Sounds like you're probably running 4.1.6 which should work fine with your server.
Have you tried accessing a share on the NAS not using Backup Exec to see if that works as you would expect? - oakerAspirantRAIDiator 4.1.5 [1.00a147] (thanks!)
Yes, I have a home folder mapped to it. I can get to it fine. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredUpdating the firmware is still worth a shot. Your firmware was released back in April 2009. It's possible there's a problem that's been addressed in later firmware.
- oakerAspirantI did update the firmware. It is now at RAIDiator 4.1.8 [1.00a147]. The jobs are still failing.
- oakerAspirantI've also corrected the permissions on the shares, per this document: http://www.readynas.com/?p=1987
I've tried to connect using \\<ip address>\<share name>
I've tried running the backup as the admin of the server that hosts Backup Exec.
I'd like to try running the job as admin of the domain, but I'm not allowed to.
When I test Resource Credentials for the job in Backup Exec 2010, I get "A communications failure has occurred."
What else can I try? BackupExec is working fine on the Windows servers, just not on the ReadyNAS 1100. - oakerAspirantI'm retiring this device.
