ReadyNAS 2000 Issues¬
Hi I was given this NAS and im struggling to set it up. RAIDar is showing corrupt root. I have tried to perform a factory reset and OS install using the reset button to no avail. I cannot get to ...

Ok. The WD60EFAX is SMR, so not a good choice. But the WD60EFRX should be fine.
I do recommend removing the partitions in the windows disk manager. Maybe also test it with WD's dashboard utility while it is connected.
If the partitions are all removed, then the NAS should automatically do a factory install when the system powers up. No need to use the boot menu.
By the way it keeps showing Corrupt root! I cant work out how to get rid of this stupid message!

Does your NAS say
- ReadyNAS Duo on the front panel? or
- ReadyNAS Duo v2 on the front panel?
Please ignore other labels for this check. Operation of the boot menu is a bit different, depending on what you have.

FWIW, a bad idea. The NAS doesn't use the file systems used in Windows. What disk model are you using?

Just says ReadyNAS on the front, underneath its Model No.: RND-2A and RNDP2000 as well as RNDP2230-100NAS

Ok. Then this is a ReadyNAS Pro 2. Instructions for the boot menu are on pages 14-15 here:

This model can be converted to run OS-6 (current firmware) if you wish. Though it's possible the previous owner already did this, so probably best to circle back to that after you get the NAS running.
If your NAS is still running 4.x firmware, then you will not be able to connect to the admin page with most browsers. Browsers have recently dropped support for TLS 1.0 (which is all OS-4 supports). You can connect with Internet Explorer or Edge in IE mode. Another option is to download an older version of FireFox, and configure it to not autoupdate. 94.0.2 works (among other versions).
Converting to OS-6 would eliminate the browser problem, and also provide SMB 3 support (among other things).
It must still be running v4 because I cant get to the admin page in IE or Edge IE mode.
I tried the factory reset - once I run this mode - how do I know the reset is complete? Does it reboot automatically or do I need to reboot it myself?
Can I jump to OS6 manually somehow?
