ReadyNAS 214 4-Bay - 4th bay stopped working
Hi,
I have had the 214 for a few months. I had installed 2 extra disks to fill the entire 4 bays within the last 2 weeks. Everything was working fine until this morning; then I got the volume degraded message, and found the 4th drive was causing an issue (or so I thought). I still had time to return/exchange it to my local PC parts store, and just came home with the newest drive (WD Red 6TB). Brand new out of the package, slot it in while the unit is still on, and I can hear it spin up momentarily, the "4" light flashes a few secs, but it disappears and the drive is not detected. The LCD indicated continues to say "data DEGRADED". I've tried powering the unit down, and reseating the drive but nothing. I've downloaded the logs, and it looks like it can't see a 4th drive at all. Is my 4th bay SATA slot dead? I bought this last summer in Aug, so I still have warrenty...I also have a bunch of data on the array, so I can't shuffle disks as easy or backup.
tl;dr
- 4-bay was working with WD 6TB Reds, for the last two weeks,
- 4th bay died, I thought it was the drive, exhcnaged the 6TB Red for a new one,
- 4th bay still won't detect brand new drive.
What should I do?
Thanks.

It will be better if you contact Support and request for RMA. You can login to my.netgear.com and register your product, once done you can then create a case for Phone or Chat Support to request for a Hardware replacement. RN214 provided that it is purchased brand new from an authorized reseller will have 3 years Hardware Warranty from purchase.
Have you tried connecting the new disk on a computer if it is being detected? If yes, then there really might be an issue with the SATA controller with the disk not being detected and the chassis will have to be replaced.
Hope this helps!
Regards
