ReadyNAS 214 available on local network but will not connect to internet
Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction here. I have had my ReadyNAS 214 server for over a year now with no problems but last week I noticed I was unable to access it ac...

The link looks more like a quick start guide than a user manual. I do see more more info here: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/content/167-port-forwarding-setting-up-port-forwarding-use-existing-set-up-custom-services.html
Anyway, you need set up an inbound service, not outbound. The remote web browser needs to connect to the NAS service, not the other way around. By default outbound connections are allowed.
I'd also forward both TCP and UDP (assuming there is a "both" option n the services screen).

Thanks again,
I believe I have setup the port as you described but it hasn't worked.
The link to the sky router manual is here: http://storage.sky.com/prod/helpcentre/manuals/skybroadband/MPM-UG00830BBSR101FSetUpGuideFibre_Final.pdf
I have:
- Under Advanced>LAN IP Setup I have added address reservation for the NAS which I have confirmed with the device name and MAC address.
- Under Security>Services I have added a service named "Plex" of type TCP with ports 32400..32400 (TCP is recommended according to the plex forum here: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiMkaqX1YXRAhXB2xoKHbCPAiEQFggeMAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.plex.tv%2Fhc%2Fen-us%2Farticles%2F201543147-What-network-ports-do-I-need-to-allow-through-my-firewall-&usg=AFQjCNEOhE7qAD48cf7AIrvbX-LgOL1jmA&sig2=vZ61MyiOvWkZLSF-spaZrQ)
- Under Security>Firewall Rules I have added an Outbound service against the service "Plex" added from the previous step with settings Allow Always with LAN Users 192.168.0.19 which is the IP I reserved for the NAS in step 1.
After this, I logged into Plex and attempted to enable remote access which failed. I rebooted the NAS server and again, it came online for a time (1 hour and 20 mins-ish) before it was again not available outside the network.
The local IP of the NAS server did not change at any point (always 192.168.0.19 throughout).
Is there anything I have done which is incorrect?
Thanks!

Sorry - of course it needs to be inbound! I'm not as clever as I thought lol.
Ok, so I have deleted the outbound service, changed the service to be TCP/UDP and re-created it as an inbound service to the IP reserved for the NAS server. Then manually specifying the port in Plex to be the one I set on the service and re-enabling it has worked!!
It has been up and running for close to 3 hours now so I am hopeful this is now resolved.
If it is still up and running in the morning then I will mark your post as the answer and close this.
Thank you to you all for your help with this - what a fantastic community NetGear has!Cheers
