ReadyNAS 214 Drives Running Constantly
Ever since I added two 16TB drives to my original pair of 4TB drives, the drives are being accessed constantly. Nothing intentionally running. Backups are scheduled but no access seems required. Indeed, same basic configuration as before, except for the added two drives. Less than 10% of space is used.
Any hints WHY this is occurring and what can be done to get them to sleep.
It appears that only one of the new 16TB drives (in RAID array) is running if the slightly higher temp (50ºC) is any indication.
thanks for any help!

What does the log show? If only one drive is running properly, your volume may be repeatedly trying to re-sync. So testing the drives with a PC and vendor tools is probably a good idea.
A failing power supply could also cause a drive to drop from the array and need to re-sync.

Thanks, Sandshark, for the reply!
The logs give no indication of why the drive is constantly being accessed (it's a particular, repeating pattern of about 4 seconds)
The "Red" flags are Errors showing that a backup target drive had been removed.
All the TimeMachine backups have been removed.
There is no problem with the drive performance—it is always available and backup routines are running properly.
I'm running from a Mac, so are there tools you'd recommend??

Still would appreciate help with this!
Seagate 16TB drive(s) running constantly (in a repeating 4 second pattern of access).
Can someone PLEASE suggest a tool that will help me diagnose the problem?
thanks!
