ReadyNAS 312 no email alerts after 6.4.1 upgrade
Email alerts not working and I'm unable to reconfigure. Logs show something like "smtp server cannot be reached". Our email is quite simple.... smtp.*****.com port 587 no encryption. Fails when ...

From Network Solutions: (our email provider)
Note - Substitute your actual domain name for "yourdomain.com" and substitute the first part of your email address for "user."
- Username = user@yourdomain.com
- Password = the password you set up when you configured your mail box
- Incoming Mail Server = mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Server Requires Authentication (typically found in advanced options or settings)
- Do NOT check "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication"
- Use the same Username and Password as Incoming or select "Use Same Settings as Incoming"
- Outgoing Server Port = 2525 or 587
- This is subject to change based on the individual preferences of your ISP
Note - Make sure you are not chosing and SSL type, this option should be turned off, or "None" should be selected.
I'll try port 2525 a bit later and see what happens.
BTW.... no error on "check for updates"

Port 2525 doesn't work either. I did get an error code, though 5008010002. I suppose that's progress.
I attempted to set it up with an outlook.com account using the standard settings provided - FAIL
I attempted to set it up with my "secret" smtp settings for outlook.com - FAIL
I tried various ports 25, 587, 2525 all failed.
This was working fine before the update. What happenend?

Hello sfpegasus,
Can you try entering a different email address with a different domain like gmail.com? See if that works so we'll know if the email alert works on other email domain or not.
Regards,

Thanks for the help, Jenn:
gmail.com = unable to send test message
outlook.com = unable to send a test message
ourdomain.com = unable to send a test message
Here's an excerpt from the msmtp log when the problem started. Why does my log stop on December 16? It would be nice to know what the results of these trials were.

Note that with gmail you also need to make some configuration changes in your google account - disabling two-factor authentication, and enabling access from "less secure apps".
