ReadyNas 316 drive swap failure
I had a drive fail this last week (dead as a doornail) for my RAID 5.1 configuration. All 6 bays are populated with 2TB WD red drives, and total used disk space was around 3 TB, so there was PLENTY o...
that all drives were red with an error at the top stating "Remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #1,2,3,4,5,6".
Don't follow that advice - you will lose data if you do that,

What do you mean by RAID 5.1? Do you have 5x2TB RAID 5 with a hot spare?
which completely nullifies the whole point of having a RAID 5.1...
There is no redundancy during the swap. So if one of the drives fails during the process, the volume can fail.
RAID is not enough to keep your data safe - you need a backup plan to do that. There are several other ways a RAID volume can fail.

There might be, but we'd need to figure out what went wrong. Keep the disk that you removed intact (leaving it as it is).
Download the full log zip file. If you need help analyzing it, you can upload it into cloud storage, and send me a private message (PM) with a download link using the envelope icon in the top right of the forum page. Make sure the permissions allow anyone with the link to download it.
Don't post the link publicly - there is some privacy leakage when you do that.
