ReadyNAS 316 Expanding Volume

Hi,

I had 3 4TB WD Red's installed in my 6-Bay NAS using X-RAID and the time has come for me to expand.

I am adding 3 more of the same drives.  I added my first drive and all is going well (although close to 24 hrs now and on 92%)

Just wondering if anyone can help with the following?

1. Can I still read from the drive whilst it is resyncing data (e.g. Use Plex - as the movies are on the NAS)?

2. Can I still write to the drive whilst it is resyncing data?

3. This is a hypothetical - What would happen if the power were to go out mid resync?  Would there be any data loss?

Thanks

It should continue with no data loss. - not something I'd recommend though.

Thanks for the help.  #3 was more if the power were to drop due to a grid outage (as its a possibility because the sync takes so long)

      Cheers

Understood, and I have seen some posts where power was disrupted.

Having a backup plan is of course always recommended.  I also suggest getting a UPS for the NAS if you don't have one.

Are you thinking about dual-redundancy (16 TB volume size) or sticking with single (20 TB volume size).?
