The hardware warranty on the machine should still be good. It was purchased in March of 2015, and the "MyNETGEAR" website "Product Warranty Info" screen says that it is under hardware warranty until March of 2020.
When I searched for info about this particular error message, most of what I found was people with external USB drives that were physically perfectly fine, but they had incorrectly built kernels that weren't communicating properly with the drives. I believe the OS 6.7.0 release notes mentioned that the kernel got bumped to 4.4, so I was hoping that this was just a kernel configuration issue. (This is why I have been asking if anyone else sees the same error messages with OS 6.7.0.)
