Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I did remember hearing that about that processor but honestly I did not catch it.

Even though its affected by this defect, I don't think this device will out preform a 516. In other words, I don't think switching over to a setup that supports SSD caching, is going to get the extra increase in performance, the customer is looking for. The device is mostly used for storing print artwork done in Adobe Creative Suite. No video production or video ripping is done.

Is the WebUI more friendlier on the Synology boxes?

Some current products e.g. the RR4312X outperform the RD5200 which had SSD caching, even with just hard disks, I believe.

SSD caching is a good suggestion though. You may wish to check the Ideas Exchange to see if it has already been suggested there.
