ReadyNas 6.2 (NAS locks up entirely)
EDIT BY MODERATOR: Please see the post at the end of the thread: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=456217#p456217
I guess i am not the only one this is happening to!
everything worked fine for 6.1.9 (except for my root at 99% problem last month)
once I updated, I transferred aprox 2 gigs of information it locks up every time
all apps are working fine.
as a business owner i have come to the conclusion (with the amount of problems i have been having) ReadyNas is not meant for a reliable means of backing up seems majority of the fixes are "back everything up and factory reset!" I think that answer is as good as telling someone with computer problems to hit there computer a few times and see if it works.
now i have gone to support many times yes they are quite helpful but only within 90 days of purchase of the unit! then they insist that i pay for a extension of that support.... i have 3 IBM servers and when there hardware fails (one little problem with a driver one year later) they back up the reseller in making sure my system is back up and running within 48 hours (no they are not leased or have a protection plan)
If it wasent for the guys in the forums i would have beaten the system with a bat (please see Office space the movie)... sorry for the rant just truly frustrated with the system

Today I'll just set the /proc/sys/kernel/panic to see if it's a kernel panic or a oops. How can I access the serial console (/dev/ttyS0) to attache a remote system to monitor the kernel issue (connector + pin description)?
Just check because my system was frozen once more. It rebootet on the 13.01.14 with the only /proc/sys/kernel/panic set and froze once more today. Thus for me it seems that the kernel has an issue. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHave you retested on 6.2.3 Beta? 6.2.3 has a newer kernel.
- jzeeviAspirantI installed the new beta (T1652?) and was able to boot, and get things running - for a while. In an effort to do some testing, I copied a users directory (about 225GB) to a local drive on my computer. It got most of the way through (down to the last 4 files) and locked up again. I did not reboot before leaving for work, so can't get the logs until later today. I will send them in - but would also look for things if someone could point out what logs have high value in this search. (I'm new to the innards of the RN104....)
- kplatteAspirantStill locked up using 6.2.3 beta last night
- guenterp62AspirantHi I'd like to jump on this thread too.
My RN104 shows the similar behaviour - currently only when the systems is almost idle.
RN104 runs on 6.2.2, recently was recently factory resetted due to that issue, but didn't help.
One thing I could contribute here: The system ran for more than 3 days without locking up since it was not connected to readycloud at that time.
As soon as I started the readycloud and related readynas remote, the system freezes came back again (frequently every night and even twice a day). - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo any of you have the Transmission app installed?
What apps do you have installed? - jzeeviAspirantNope. Sorry.

I don't have any apps installed. Still having problems even after a factory reset. - af8GuideNo don't have the Transmission app installed. Only Antivirus.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you have anti-virus you should update to 6.2.3 beta if you haven't already as there is a bug fix for anti virus in 6.2.3 beta.
