Almost an industry standard. For macOS SMB compatibility, they are loading the vfs fruit - by default, this vfs does veto ._ files adding something like...
fruit:veto_appledouble = no
...might cure. Not deep enough in customizing ReadyNAS SAMBA config, I'm more on the Q side when it comes to NAS. StephenB you might continue here based on this information please.

Sep 23, 2018Hi Atof, are you using the same client running the app against the two different nas?
If no, try to find the difference between the two clients configurationwise, though.
If yes, this issue might be related to keyboard mapping and/or regional settings of windows and I would try to configure the client as genuine US-american workstation with a plain vanilla us-style keyboard to see it hopefully working.

Of course I've tested from the same client using ordinary commandprompt with a simple "echo > ._whatever". Its just the combination of dot and underscore which fails on 6.9.x. It may had worked before updating to V6.9 recently.
