ReadyNAS and SATA3 vs SATA6?

Can you provide a link to the information you found on the type of SATA interface used?
Now gigabit provides 1Gb/s. So drive speed is not likely to be a huge bottleneck in the 3220.
For the 4220 though drive speed does become more important.
Even with the 3220 you can bond multiple 1Gbps Ethernet channels so using the two built-in ones would create a potential load of 2Gbps (full-duplex) which might be constrained by the SATA interfaces. (The 4220 has 2x10Gbps Ethernet.)
With regards to a source of information for the type of SATA interface. I could not find this on the NetGear site and I suspect from your comment you had the same problem. However I did check multiple resellers websites and those that listed specs all listed them as SATA 3Gbps and frankly based on past experience of NetGear I find this believable.
