Readynas Duo: Dead drive 1 - what are my options?

Actually you can (there is a special code you can enter indicating that you know the drive is bad). I've done this occasionally and had no issues with the return.

The advanced replacement option (where they ship you a drive first, and include a return shipping label) is what I do. It is about the same price as doing the shipping yourself, and you get the drive much quicker. This is only available in the US though.
