DiskInternals also has some for-pay tools which are supposed to recover data from damaged disks. I've never used them, so this is not a recommendation. I'm just pointing them out. If the raid tools works with the duo format, then that has the advantage of using both disks for recovery. If you are limited to a single disk, then if the data sectors are corrupted, the data is gone. if the folder structure or metadata is corrupted, you have a chance. With two disks, the odds are better (especially if the bad sectors cannot be read at all).

When you do get things up and running, you should put a backup plan in place.
