ReadyNAS Duo V2 doesn't switch on after a reset

Hello everyone.

My ReadyNAS Duo V2 doesn't work anymore, after I tried to do a factory reset, because  I wanted to reset the old configuration.

I pressed the reset button on the back together with the power on button for a few seconds, until all the blue lights on the front panel were on and steady.

Then I waited for a couple of minutes (I should have probably waited more) and then I remove the power cable ! :(((

After that the NAS seems to be dead: no lights, no sign of life when I try to turn t on.

Any idea, please?

Thank you.

Let's start by confirming the model (many owners of the original Duo think they have a v2).

    Does your Duo say

    1. Duo on the front panel, or
    2. Duo v2 on the front panel?

Please ignore other labels (they are misleading).

Remove the disks, and try powering it up again.  You should see some lights (blinking), and RAIDar should find the NAS and report a no disks status.  https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads

If you don't see that, then it is possible (but not certain) that the power adapter has failed.  Compatible inexpensive replacements are easy to find, so it might be worth a risk buy.

Hi Stephen, thank you for your reply.

Is it possible that removing the power cable could have damaged the card?

It is conceivable, but I think it's unlikely.  Does the socket in the NAS appear to be damaged in any way?

To clarify - it is possible that something on the system board has failed.  That's not repairable.  If the system doesn't power up at all when diskless, then you either need to replace the NAS or you need to do a risk-buy of a new adapter.

The only components in the original Duo that can be replaced are the memory and the power adapter (and of course the disks).  The memory in the Duo v2 is soldered in, so it can't be replaced.
