ReadyNAS Duo vs. BT Infinity Hub

Hi,

I have just had BT Infinity installed, and I can no longer access my readyNAS box.

The new set-up uses a different set-up to my previous Broadband provider, as the BT hub now sits behind a fibre optic modem. The hub is therefore not at 192.168.0.1 as it was previously, the hub is now inside my home network (behind the modem) instead of being the home network gateway itself.

My PC and readyNAS are both wired directly into the hub.

Looking at the BT hub (http://192.168.1.254) I can see that it has allocated IP addresses to my PC, laptop and PS3, however the readyNAS box is not listed in either the "Devices list" or "DHCP Table".

RAIDar detects my readyNAS box. And displays the correct status information.

However, RAIDar is telling me that the readyNAS's IP address is 192.168.0.2, this is it's IP address on the old network, and oddly this is outside the range of IP addresses in the DHCP Network Range of the new hub: (the range is set to 192.168.1.64 -> 192.168.1.253).

Windows Network Map also shows the readyNas box.

It seems that only the BT hub cannot access, or even see the NAS box.

Any idea how I can solve this issue?

I have tried rebooting each device and in different orders.

I think that if I could get the BT hub to reallocate a new IP address (within it's DHCP range) to the NAS box it may solve the issue, but I can't/ don't know how to do that.

Thanks.

  • It would seem that you have set a static IP address on the Duo at some point.

You can reset the Duo network settings so that the IP address will be assigned by DHCP by performing a Firmware Reinstall (See FAQ for instructions). The Reset will not affect your data, but will reset your admin password to the default as explained in the FAQ
  • You could try setting your PC to a static IP address on the same subnet as the Duo, which should allow you to communicate with it.

i.e. change your PC to 192.168.0.x

connect to the duo and set it back to dhcp
change your pc back to dhcp
log back into the duo (raidar will tell you it's new dhcp assigned IP) and set a new static IP in the range of your new router (e.g. 192.168.1.2)
