ReadyNAS has failed and need assistance recovering iSCSI LUN
Hello,
If I've posted this in the incorrect location, please let me know where I should repost.
I've got a RNDU2000 with 2 x 2TB HDD's in RAID 1. On this drive, there was an iSCSI LUN which was connected to my Windows 10 PC as a drive.
HDD #2 died recently so I popped in a replacement to resync when I noticed that none of the green lights on the front of the unit was on or even flashing.
FYI, there is no backup of any of the information on this drive (sadly) as it was the location I stored some information and also used it as a backup repository.
What I've tried and/or noticed:
- Tried power cycling a few times with HDD #1 still connected and RAIDar picked it up, showing the warning about the failed drive 2. Even when I've put the new drive in to bay 2, no resyncing occurred.
- Tried having only the new HDD in to see if the lights on the front would light up but nothing.
- Connected HDD #1 to a USB HDD dock, connected to my computer and diskmgmt picks up the drive and also shows the partitions
- Tried replacing the RAM - Nothing
- Tried the reset instructions (https://kb.netgear.com/21100/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-Ultra-2-Ultra-2-Plus-or-Pro-2-Duo-v2) in an attempt to reboot the OS but again, none of the green lights appeared so was unable to progress
- As HDD #1 appears to be in decent shape, ran TestDisk to see if it is indeed readable and it turned up green so I'm hoping that the drive is still good.
- At the moment, the power light stays on and the fan is spinning with no other lights and/or activity. RAIDar is no longer picking it up.
Question:
- Is there a way for me to recover the iSCSI LUN from the good HDD, move it to a different NAS (I have a spare) and reconnect it to Windows?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Does it boot up with only disk 1 installed (in bay 1)? You should be able to access the data with only one drive.

Yep, definitely tried that. Tried with the 1 remaining good disk and also tested with a brand new one. RAIDar says no disks detected and the NAS shows no green lights for bay 1, 2 or activity.

Is the other NAS also a ReadyNAS? If so, which model?
