ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply
Hi there! I have a ReadyNAS box that needs a new power supply. The box and cable that connects the NAS to the wall socket that is, not the internal power unit. I've found some on ebay, but they m...

All you need is the correct cable, there is no transformer. The input voltage to the supply can be 100-240.

thanks, but i'm not really sure what you mean, i'm afraid. i did that search, and just found a load of nas boxces. Anyway, my NAS box doesn't have a 4-pin plug, it's a 3-pin kettle lead.
I also have a model RND4000-200EUS ReadyNAS box. That does have a 4-pin plug, like a little DIN plug.

I am a bit confused by your post, because the RND4000-100EUS has an internal supply, and you seem to be saying you have a unit with a brick.
Assuming it is an RND4000-100EUS (ReadyNAS NV+ v1):
First, it is worth checking your warranty status (warranty is 5 years for the original purchaser), since Netgear will provide a free one if you are covered. Also, if your ReadyNAS serial number is between 000DA2010FFE and 000DA2016000 then you are also entitled to a new PSU (due to a quite old service action from Netgear).
Assuming neither of those apply:
Replacement supplies are pretty scarce, and tend to be expensive..

It is possible to adapt a much cheaper ATX power supply, but it would have to live outside the chassis. Here's a thread that might help: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-to-ReadyNAS/Replacement-Power-Supply-for-UK-NV/td-p/916501
Some folks have also tried purchasing an NV+ off of ebay, just to get the supply or other parts. For instance there is an active bid here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Netgear-ReadyNAS-NV-4-TB-RND4000-100NAS-NAS-/281764338908?hash=item419a769cdc

Aha, now I see the confusion! No, I'm not talking about the internal unit, I'm talking about the cable and possible transformer that connects the NAS box to the wall plug socket. It will have a 3-pin kettle lead plug on one end, and a 3-pin 240 volt plug on the other end. Whether there's a transformer in the middle somewhere, I just can't remember.
My other ReadyNAS box has a 4-pin plug, that connects via a transformer, to the wall plug socket. The socket on this one is different.
Or can I assume that as the box I'm asking about has a 3-pin kettle socket, any old kettle lead will do, and it doesn't need a transformer, like my other NAS box does? I really can't remember what it had now.
This is what the plug that fits the power socket on the back of the ReadyNAS box looks like:
