So I already have the 6tb and the 4tb in the nas, it never did an increase to 12.7tb.. it is currently at 10.2tb
From what I have read it looks like I have to do a factory reset to get the extra storage which is pretty annoying.

What is a bit puzzling here is why you saw any increase in space when you upgraded the first 2 TB drive. You shouldn't have, unless you previously had 4 TB drives in the array.
Can you download the log zip file and post mdstat.log? Cut and paste it in a reply (the </> tool in the toolbar is handy for this).
