Herbie - yes I did and got a "pci-x not supported >32 bit address".
So I took mu Ultimate DOS boot disk to a friends house and tried on 2 of his machines, but bizarrely couldnt even get the WDIDLE to come up??
In the end he took pity on my and gave me 4 barracuda xt drives - he'd just upgraded his 2 10-drive Drobo's - so im set.
mdgm - thank-you for the link - if i hadnt been fortunate to receive the XT drives, I'd be following the instructions in the thread link you provided. Hopefully this will help others.
