Did you make any other changes to your equipment when you upgraded the switch? For instance, a new router? Or perhaps installing IE10, or upgrading the laptop to a new OS?
Also, it would be helpful to know if you tried the OS reinstall. That will reset the admin password to the original default value (either netgear1 or password) and will also reset the ip configuration to dhcp.
