ReadyNAS NV+ stuck at 0% resync
Hi,
Suffered a power outage yesterday. Restarted the NV+ and just left it overnight. Came back to it this morning and it was unresponsive to ping / radiar and frontview. LCD display was blank. All drive lights green and activity light off.
Turned off / on via the power button, did the quota check and displayed the IP address. Still could not ping or see it in RAIDAR.
Turned off / on via power cord. did the quota check and displayed the IP address. Ping now works and can see it in RAIDAR. On the NV+ All drive lights are green and activity light is off though I can hear the hard drives making noises like they are being accessed. In RAIDAR Everything is green and the 'Volume' light is flashing green. Hovering over it shows 0% resync with time to finish at 41hrs 38 mins. Been like this for 2 hours now. I cannot get into frontview or see my shares..
Should I just leave it? I would have thought I'd be at 4% after a couple of hours of Resync....
Thanks

- vandermerweMasterDo you have a backup?
If not you should consider contacting Netgear support for paid support , otherwise try these things/ answer these questions.
Did you have ssh enabled?
I would wait for 24 hours and see if any progress is made.
If not I would power down then do an OS reinstall using the boot menu:

If that does not work, power down, remove and test all disks using vendor tools. Remember to label them according to slot number and do not power on again until they are all back in.
Buy yourself an uninterruptible power supply. - jbritAspirantThanks - I'll give it 24 hrs to see what happens.
No SSH.
This is the backup for my computers, unfortunately the HD in my laptop died on Monday so would kind of suck to loose that data. - vandermerweMasterThe OS reinstall is a fairly benign procedure which just reinstalls the OS from the flash onto the disks. It also resets network settings and admin password. It does not destroy data. I think it would be worth trying.
- jbritAspirantWell, things went from bad to worse and then to good.
I did the OS reinstall and started to get a bad firmware message on the LCD. I also tried doing a boot recovery from USB but continued to get the bad firmware message.
Called support and within 3 hours they had me up and running again. There was a bad drive that I have pulled that will need replacing, but the main thing is my data is there..
Really impressed with support and it was well worth the cost. - vandermerweMasterYes. That's why in my initial post I suggested testing the disks if the OS reinstall failed to improve things.
USB boot recovery is a "last resort" procedure to be considered when everything else has been excluded or when it is very clear that the flash is corrupt. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIn my experience disks are far more likely to fail than the NAS. (That's not to say the chassis won't fail, just that disks fail more often). So its important to rule them out early when troubleshooting.
