ReadyNAS NV+ v1 stuck on boot process - no SSH
Hi at all,
I've been using an NV+ v1 for years. Yesterday, I tried to download log files, the NAS crashed and stucks now on boots process ("Booting..."). Sometimes it won't shutdown, why I had to plug-off. Sometimes it shuts down but the display does not (the LCD keeps on lighting, and the last message won't disappear).
It seems to be a familiar issue, so I found out that large log files can cause that problem. In another post, the tip was given to connect via SSH. I never used it on my NV+ and I don't remember to have an SSH app installed on the system. I even tried to logon using several SSH tools but I just got the message "connection refused".
I do have a full backup but that's about one week old, and in the meantime I uploaded a couple of important new files which haven't been copied to the backup drives yet.
Is there any other way to clear these log files without deleting my storaged files (like factory reset)?
I had the idea that an OS reinstall could maybe overwrite and so shrink the log files but I'm not sure enough to give it a try (I could also imagine that log files are kept untouched during reinstall process.) Could this be a solution?
Thank you for any kind of help.

An OS reinstall generally won't help if you actually have a full OS partition.
Have you tried booting up using the option to skip the file system check? See page 23-24 here:
- DroogieTutorHi, thanks for the reply. I already skipped the FS check, this ended with a disk 4 sync message - and with a hangup again. I never head HD problems and there were no messages regarding it... After the NAS attempted to resync and stucked again, I head to plug off. The very next booting ended with a hangup again like before...

Label the disks as you remove them, so you can put them back in their proper slots. Windows won't show the disks in file manager, since it doesn't recognize the format. But the vendor tools should be able to find and test them.
