ReadyNAS NV+ v2 not appearing in network folder on pc's!!

Hi!

I have been successfully using this device for over a 2 years now with no issue, it has one 3TB HDD with media files I use to serve to all room media players via network. It is still accessible via media players and for instance if I use Archos video on my android phone I can browse all files no problem however does not show in network folder (on 2 separate windows pcs) despite reboots of all network equipment and pcs. Also, to boot, I have for some reason changed the admin password during initial setup which I can't remember and the recovery tool successfully recovers password via an email I don't get SO...I cannot look into the Nas settings unless I reset the device which I will do if someone knows how to without losing HDD contents?

Very strange this? I have checked all security settings and disabled firewall to no avail, I'm in the dark here, does anyone have a torch?

Cheers in advance!

g.

  • If you do an OS reinstall ( not a factory default) using the boot menu, it will reset your admin password to netgear1 and it will reset your network settings to dhcp.

As for the nas not appearing on your PCs, this is a common problem related to master browsers on your LAN. If you type in the IP address of the nas you should be able to access it in explorer or a browser.

Check that you have a NV + v2:

and upgrade your firmware to the latest.
  • Thanks mate!

I will try that asap, regarding the file browsing, will the OS reinstall help that reappear or is she toast from here on out?

I literally have no interruption with my regular browsing from media rooms, only when I view on PC, it is defs a NV + v2 btw

    And thanks again!

  • OS reinstall should also help you with some network browsing issue as it clears and resets your network settings to DHCP, should be like a fresh connection.
