I see where the issue is. The 'admin' user isn't part of the Samba user database. I will file a bug against 5.3.4 to have this added.
On the v1 and other platforms, when the admin user changes his password system-wide, he was added to the Samba file also. The v2 does not appear to do this at this time.
If you have SSH access enabled, you can add 'admin' manually via: smbpasswd -a admin
