ReadyNAS Pro Biz Edition upgrade from 6X2TB to ?
I have a 2009 ReadyNAS Pro Biz Edition that has six 2TB drives and it is running RAIDiator 4.2.22. I haven't had it on for awhile and quit using it because it filled up. I have a couple 3TB drives ...

Still not getting the math. at 14TB I already subtracted a full 4TB drive for redundancy. Then what is the additional 1.3TB being taken away?
14 TB and 12.7 TiB are the same amount of actual space, just reported using different units. Drive manufacturers always use TB. The NAS uses TiB, but calls it TB (as does Windows).
1 TB = 1000*1000*1000*1000 bytes
1 TiB = 1024*1024*1024*1024 bytes
To convert 14 TB to TiB, the formula is
14*(1000/1024)*(1000/1024)*(1000/1024)*(1000/1024) = 12.7 TiB.
There are similar mismatches for GB /GiB and MB/MiB.

Aaargh....hi guys....looked over at the console and saw it flashing....while doing the resync (still doing the first 4TB) a 3TB has failed!!!!! How precarious can you get....doing a resync to add a new drive, and have another drive fail in the process. If I can believe it, there is an hour left. I am OK with trying to see if it can complete the resync. At that point, I don't have a 3TB to replace the 3TB, but I still have the second 4TB which was going to replace a 2TB.
If I replace the 3TB with the 4TB, and then when I get the 3TB being shipped, I can replace the 2TB wiht the 3TB instead of the planned 4TB, right?
To compound things, I can't figure out how to get my APPS data. Was told it is in a hidden directory in my data volume, but have not been able to get in with FTP software or Putty...think I am being denied by the same PC that has admin access? I can Putty and FTP my server in Dallas, a long ways away, but not the one 8' away....
in the FTP software I am entering the server IP, admin, pw denied
Putty, same thing, denied....maybe I am making it too simple? wrong port? what port? I think for SSH I was on port 22.
Thanks again and sorry for being such a burden....is there a support staff PayPal beer fund account?

This actually happens more often than one would think.
Resyncing a RAID5 is very stressful for all the HDDs in the volumes (as you're reading from all the HDDs, all stripes)...

I thought the same thing...essentially a stress test for that drive. I had actually taken it out of my main PC to replace a DOA drive. Might have lasted ages in my PC..hope it is in warranty.
