Sounds like corrupt firmware on the internal flash.
If the old disks haven't been wiped yet, you could remove your 2TB disks, put one of the old disks back in by itself and upload the firmware (e.g. 4.2.31) via Frontview over the top of itself and do the required reboot. see that it comes up fine. Then power down and see if a subsequent factory reset with the 2TB disks installed works.
An alternative would be USB Boot Recovery however that could lead to a corrupt EEPROM.

Since the drives were used, it is possible that there was a reserved partition type on one or both that the older firmware for the Ultra can't handle and you simply needed to remove any partitioning using a PC. Though you've moved to another device, you may still want to try with a clean drive just to see if that's an easy fix.
