Keep in mind that RAID resync takes the same time - the fullness/emptiness of the file system doesn't matter. All sectors are mirrored, whether used or not.
I think its worth deleting the volume, and inserting the error-free disk by itself. You can recreate the volume as xraid (as long as you don't install the concerning disk).
