Are you still seeing the same message in the VGA since you were able to get to the boot menu?
The error you were getting means the boot flash is corrupted. A USB re-install can fix that, but the corruption usually affects the vpd file, which is unique to your unit and can only be created by Netgear because of its encryption.
Now that there is no Netgear support or ReadyCloud, it doesn't matter if there are two NAS that report the same serial number. So if it is the vpd and you can get a copy of one from another Ultra6, then you can use that.
