ReadyNASNV-How to get CIFS working?

Yeah, no NAV running, tried turning off the WIN firewall - nothing. Tried following the manual's directions too - just typing the machine name into a Windows explorer box and still nothing. When doing FTP a Win dialog came up about allowing/disallowing for the firewall, but whenever trying to connect to the machine by CIFS I've only gotten a couple error dialogs about not finding the location.
The logs are pretty sparse too, but I sent them just in case as you suggested.
And sending the logs is pretty annoying - the web interface keeps popping up dialog boxes, and you can't switch to different browser tabs to get the forum's URL. :p
