ReadyNASNV-How to get CIFS working?
CIF is a service I can't choose to turn off, yet can't get working. The directions are very thin: type in a workgroup name - bingo! Nope, no bingo for me. I've tried changing my computer's workgr...
Tried it with my laptop - RJ45-RJ45 port (1Gb/s!), and it works flawlessly: admin, from Run..., and setting up a network share. Through the hub (after changing all the settings) it again works flawlessly (wo much testing).
So... how do I recover the CIFS on my primary machine? Are there 1+ services which may be off or missing, or do I need to reinstall WinXP, or is there something more do-able in between those extremes? I guess my OT question is: is it because CIFS is dead that my machine has survived without an infection for quite some time?
