ReadyNASNV-How to get CIFS working?
CIF is a service I can't choose to turn off, yet can't get working. The directions are very thin: type in a workgroup name - bingo! Nope, no bingo for me. I've tried changing my computer's workgr...

Going the other direction, now I've made every service Manual which was Disabled, and manually turned on all services except:
3 refuse to turn on: Net Logon, Performance Logs and Alerts, NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing, giving the message "The XXX service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do..."
2 sometimes are turned off again after I turn them on: QoS RSVP and Portable Media Serial Number Service.
Others won't start for various reasons:
HIDA gave me this message: "Could not start the Human Interface Device Access service on Local Computer.
Error 12: The specified module could not be found."
UPS says it is configured incorrectly (I don't have anything hooked up for the moment anyways)
TabletService is Disabled - I don't have the tablet connected, but I did change it to Manual just in case.
And I'm leaving Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing on Manual but stopped.
Could it still be the services? The couple that won't turn on seem fairly suspect to me, but what are my options as far as trying to fix them and get them to a point where they'll start again? Could I otherwise be missing something on this system - something have been uninstalled? What are the critical-path modules for the CIFS system, and how can I troubleshoot them?
Thanks!
