ReadyNasPro Pioneer - More than 16Tb is possible?
Hi.
I need just an answer.
I've got a ReadyNas Pro Pioneer Edition, RAIDiator 4.2.24 Firmware RAIDiator-x86, X-Raid2.
5 x 3tbyte Hd, and 1 x 2Tbyte Hd.
I've supposed to update with the last 3Tbyte hard drive, because now i'm 91% of occupied space.
Reading about new 4Tbyte Hard Drive (like Western Digital Red), i'd like expand with theese new disk.
Reading about max volume syze of ReadyNas...there's a constructor limit on some "home" models.
If i mount 6 x 4Tbyte Hard Drive (3.7Tbyte real space each), according with Xraid volume calculator..
Given: 6 drives
Given Size [base 10]: 24000.000 GB = 24.000 TB
Given Size [base 2]: 22351.742 GB = 21.828 TB
==RESULTS (Will go below):==
Single Disk Redundancy
Disk Space with Raid 5 [base 10]: 20000.000 GB = 20.000 TB
Final Useable/Filesystem Size with Raid 5 [base 2]: 18416.343 GB = 18.271 TB
Dual Disk Redundancy
Disk Space with Raid 6 [base 10]: 16000.000 GB = 16.000 TB
Final Useable/Filesystem Size with Raid 6 [base 2] : 14707.365 GB = 14.592 TB
Questions:
-Can i reach 18Tbyte of final usable filesystem size, or there's a constructor limit like i've hear, about max 14 or 16Tbyte?
-Can i mount new 4Tbyte hard drive? (there's no compatibility list updated with the new 4tbyte hard drives, excluding hitachi)
-If my NAS is too old for that, what model 6bay (not rack!!!) can support 4Tbyte hard drive, or the new 5Tbyte that will entry in Gen\2014, and give more than 16Tbyte final usable space? (more i mean 16->18->24 etc).
Model:
ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer Edition [X-RAID2] RNDP600E, 6 bay, RAIDiator 4.2.24 Firmware, RAIDiator-x86.
Thanks.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou cannot expand past 16 TiB [base 2], but if you do a factory reset with all disks in place, then you can use all the space.
If you are still under warranty (which is 5 years) then Netgear will deny support if you go off the HCL. Though it seems likely that the WDC WD40EFRX and the Seagate ST4000NV000 will be added eventually, there is still some risk on that.
You might wait a bit on the WD40EFRX and see if there is a resolution posted on this issue: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=73417&p=407846&hilit=wd40efrx#p407846 - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Pioneer has a 3 year warranty.

Sorry, my mistake. I somehow skipped over the "Pioneer" part.mdgm wrote: The Pioneer has a 3 year warranty. - dennis32AspirantThank you. Not a warranty problem anymore but...
Maybe is better if i buy another 6bay NAS for now with 3TiB drives, and put on retirement the old 4x2tb 4bay NV+.
...aaaand i've thinked 3d-camera and 3d video-camera's hobby can be cheap ....
Thinking about another NAS, and more hard drive, remember me when i had mounted a 12x1000gb raid5 windows server... on a old Abit AB9Pro motherboard with an Intel E2150, 9 SATA on board and 2 PCI-4-SATA card:

But thinking the occupied space, i prefer the new solution, 2 6bay nas.

Just remembered me the hard-transfer files from the old Raid5 to the RNDP600E and the NV+:

Better have a 2^nd 6bay for now. Just end year, i will go in new house and just buyed a dedicated server closet for 2 NAS and some others stuff.
Just last question, for buying another Netgear NAS, many years passed, and i don't know much new models.
Watching the RNDU6000 6bay looks like my RNDP600E extetically, but the engine (cpu\moth\memory\...) i don't know if it the same.
It's almost the same, or just a more faster\advanced one?
Many thanks for advice. (and sorry for my bad english) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Ultra 6 has a dual-core Atom so it is slower. The RNDP600U has the same CPU as your Pioneer and the RNDP6000-200 has a faster CPU. All of these are discontinued.
The new ReadyNAS OS line of products includes the ReadyNAS 516 which has a much faster CPU than the one in your Pioneer. - dennis32AspirantThanks very much for the info.
