Recycle Bin Size Limit / Behaviour?
Hello all,
Not sure if this is the right section. Anyway, I was wondering what the size limit is for the per-share recycle bin? The limit seems to be 5 characters, so "99999" seems to be the max? How would I go about setting a limit of say 2TB? What would entering in "0" do?
Also, I was wondering if anyone more familiar with the feature could clear this up - if the volume/share runs low on space, will the ReadyNAS auto-recycle the files in the recycle bin(s)? I know it will after a certain amount of time (however many days are set) - and I suspect it will to stay below the limit? (Recycle old deleted, store new deleted) But what about if the share is running low on space, and I copy more files to it? Even though the recycle bin isn't full, will it start purging stuff to make room?
If it will, then I think a recycle bin with no size limit would be ideal for me. I could still turn on auto-recycling after a certain number of days. The scenario I'm thinking of is... copying a bunch of FRAPS footage over. I'd sort through it, then finally delete the junk. I might want to undelete some later if I see some pieces that fit nicely together, so I'd leave those pieces in the recycle bin - or maybe I won't want to undelete them. Finally I'd copy over more footage as I record it. Ideally the ReadyNAS should purge the recycle bin to make room for the new stuff, without me having to think about it. :)
Cheers,

- ewokNETGEAR ExpertSetting it to 0 should disable the size limit. The Recycle Bin does not take into consideration the amount of free space on the volume when cleaning up, it only uses the settings in the Recycle Bin section.
- BikeHelmetAspirantAlright. Then I'll just set a size limit of 0, and let it recycle stuff after about a week. :)
Cheers, - gordonakellyAspirantDid this work?
