resetting NAS Device
If we reset the NAS with the reset button, but HAVE NOT run the volume setup after connecting to RAIDar, would the data still be intact? We reset a non-responsive NAS device, but weren't aware that it would erase data. We connected to it via RAIDar, but did not run the Setup required to create a new raid volume. We are hoping that this kept some data intact.

- I would contact support.
- If you actually ran a factory reset procedure then the raid volume gets rebuilt one way or another - after a timeout, the drive automatically formats as xraid.
Are you sure that is what you did? - pwcjayhawk - please try not to double-post. I merged the duplicate threads.
- We performed the reset by holding the reset button thru the power up process. This apparently cleared the partition, as the RAIDar app was then forcing us to use the Setup option to create a new Raid configuration. However, once we identifed that the configuration was wiped, we unplugged the NAS and left it powered off. It wasn't powered up for anymore than 10-15 minutes after resetting. I have since pulled the hard drive and slaved to another pc, but its not showing up as a separate drive. I'm afraid I'll need to quick format it so that the volume is recognized, but then I'm hoping to use a data recovery tool to find and retrieve the lost data.
- Do not format it. That will only make data recovery harder.
I you powered down during the 10 minute countdown without confirming a RAID mode choice the factory default was aborted before the disk was wiped. If you left it on beyond the 10 minute countdown then the factory default would have commenced and the disks would have been wiped.
