Restore apps from backup
Hi Everyone, Running into a bit of an issue. I was having some performance issues with my RN102 (OS 6.6.1), so I decided a factory reset was in order. I backed up the entire /data volume, as well...

Likely true. You can also confirm by downloading the log zip and looking in system.log for ntp: adjust (slew):

ntp: adjust (slew): is in the log.
I'm seeing statements like this, over and over again:
Feb 02 18:02:01 DatNAS cron[10059]: (*system*poweroff) WRONG FILE OWNER (/etc/cron.d/poweroff) Feb 02 18:02:01 DatNAS cron[10059]: (*system*frontview-backup) WRONG FILE OWNER (/etc/cron.d/frontview-backup)
Could this be related - is it a permissions issue that is causing all the trouble?

Did you install transmission 3.00.6?
Are there other files than these two that have the wrong owner?

I have not installed transmission since the wipe/restore.
poweroff and frontview-backup are the only 2 that are popping up, every minute at 1 second after the minute.

chown seems to have fixed that ownership issue, but that hasn't solved the problem of the apps. I may just do another factory reset and restore.
BTW, chown can change both the owner and group. The syntax for that is
chown [user]:[group] [file]
eg:
chown root:root /etc/cron.d/poweroff - ACBlankFeb 11, 2017Aspirant
So it turns out everything is awful.
I can't get to the admin page now. I've tried rebooting via SSH, rebooting via power button, and finally a factory reset via the reset button/boot menu.
It tries to connect to the admin page for some time (with the loading bar moving slowly), and then goes to the "admin page is offline" page. No matter how long I wate after boot, it still brings me to the offline page.
Any suggestions?

The factory reset should have worked.
You can force that path by unformatting the disks (connect them to a windows PC, and either delete all the volumes shown in Windows Disk Manager, or use the quick zeros write test in WDC's lifeguard software).

Hi guys, this is my first post on this site.
I found this issue via Google.
I too am having the same problem. After playing about with Couchpotatoe DNS settings etc, I could'nt get Qbittorrent to work. I then found out that I could not install any apps getting the same message about being unavailable/obsolete. I figured I must have screwed something up. I did a factory reset and I can now install other apps, but not Qbittorrent. App shows, just will not install. Maybe there is an elswhere. Any ideas?

Hi DannyBlah,
You could try checking with the app developer if they have the app ready for the new OS6 firmware.
What firmware is loaded to your NAS?

Hello, I'm running 6.6.1, latest. I have found that I can download and install apps from https://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9 without issue. Guess it maybe some bug.
