Resync lockup after sata reset
I received this message:
A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime.
I then started a resync about 24 hours ago and the volumes are now not available. All lights are green on the front. Originally I could get Frontview to appear but it was unresponsive. I could get a tab to expand but after that it froze. I have tried holding the power button down to shut down manually but no luck. I can hear disk activity so I'm afraid to force a power off but pulling the power. Now Frontview doesn't come up at all. It does respond to ping though.
I am running a Ready NAS NV with the latest firmware (Which I don't remember now but it said it was up to date before I started the resync). I have 4 WD 2TB drives installed that have been running a little over a year.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo you have SSH access (you would only have this if you installed EnableRootSSH)?
- dticeAspirantI doubt it since I don't recall doing anything like that.
- dticeAspirantStill working on a fix for this. mdgm informed me that disk 3 was toast and 4 was out of sync causing it to fail resync. Anybody run into this and have a fix? It was suggested that I clone Disk 3 and try resync again. I will try this if nobody has any better ideas. I have the unit online in tech support mode currently in case one of the gurus can look at it.
- dticeAspirantThanks to a suggestion from mdgm I cloned my failing disk and inserted the new disk. After resync the NAS came back online.
