RN 104 poor performance -> unusable

So the problem with failure to shut down is still there?
Have you upgraded to 6.2.1? Does the nas reboot properly?
If you shutdown using the power button, does it also hang?
You should try an OS reinstall using the boot menu:

Do you have a backup of your data?
It is the weekend before Christmas,I think it is a bit much to expect Netgear to be patrolling the forums right now.
