RN 212 unable to update firmware to 6.9.2 and antivirus failure

I am on firmware v 6.9.1 and attempting to update to 6.9.2. When attempting to download and update through the admin page, the error 6001010023 is displayed.

When attempting a manual firmware update from a downloaded image, I get "unrecognised server error"

Also, from the 1st Feb18 the antivirus has failed each time with the following log error:

"System: Antivirus scanner definition file update failed due to download failure. Check your Internet connection."

Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Thanks

    What browser are you using?

Have you seen any warnings about a full root volume in your logs?

You might check that NTP (time sync) is working correctly - that also depends on an internet connection.

One test is to turn NTP off by going to the time settings wheel on the system overview page.  Uncheck the box next to "synchronize clock with an Internet server" and click apply.  Then re-check that box (re-entering the NTP servers if needed) and click apply again.

That will force the NAS to connect to those NTP servers over your internet connection.  Check the log page, it will show an error if that fails.

Hi StephanB, thanks for your help

I've tried both Safari and Chrome with the same issue,

There is no mention of full root volume in the logs,

NPT time sync wasn't active, so I activated it again without issue or problems in the logs.

I've just checked if I can connect through readycloud and it's coming up as offline. (I havnt tried to connect through RC for a few weeks) This could indicate that even though there hasnt been an error log with the NTP, it could still be a connection issue? The RN212 is connected to the router with the defult configuration. I have a rudimentary understanding of it's setup, but is there anything obvious that I can look for in the network settings that could be causing this issue?

      Thanks

It sounds like you are using DHCP for the NAS network configuration and since NTP works you have basic internet connectivity.

You might try adding 8.8.8.8 (Google's free DNS server) to your DNS server list in the NAS.  Click the settings wheel on next to the NIC icon on your network setting page, then click on the IPv4 tab.  Sometimes that helps the NAS connect to the ReadyCloud server.

Also, if you are using the default network configuration, then you should only be using one of the two ethernet connections.  If you are using both, you need to use a more advanced setup called Link Aggregation.  So if you have two ethernet cables connected, remove the second one (or give us the details on what link aggregation mode you are using).

After you add 8.8.8.8 and restart the NAS, please do look on the cloud page of your Web UI.  There are two status checks there - one for internet connectivity, the second for ReadyCloud.  Let us know whether those are green, or not.
