RN Duo RND2000-bad performance streaming video from network

Hi all,
I have a strange problem when streaming videos with my WD TV LIVE from the ReadyNas Duo.
When i stream videos from the WD i have 2 options:
-Network shares
-Media serves

If I go to Network shares and try to stream a video from the folder structure of the RN, then its so bad that the video is moving like 1 picture/MINUTE.
Absolutely unwatchable. This is absolutely dependent on the video resolution/size. I can watch an avi file with low resolution and it is la-la, but a mkv with the size of some gigs results in serious stutter as described.
Interesting fact: when I chose Media servers, then the performance is OK, but I don't have the option to watch with subtitles which is essential for me since english is not my native language.

so this means the performance is OK if I use the RN DLNA server, but it is absolutly below everything if i try to access the share with an external media player via DLNA.

Does anyone else have experience or maybe a solution for this behaviour? I hope so...if not I'm better of with some USB drive directly connected to the WD :(
Help would be appreciated, thanks!

p.s. i left out sys specs for the moment due to the discrepancy of media server/network share performance - i guess it is a bug. if necessary I will post all the required data.

For anyone interested, SAMBA has a problem with Gigabit switches as to be found here:
    http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-General-Discussions/Slow-video-playback-frame-drops-on-WDTV-Live-and-iMac/td-p/107016
    and here:

Solution: set the Switch port on the GB switch where the ReadyNAS resides to 100Mbit autonegotiation.
No stutter anymore, 1080p movies with 14GB and DTS audio are playing as smooth as from the DLNA server on the NAS AND(!!!) I finally have my subs back :D

Negative impact: due to the missing option to set the switchport on my AVM fritzbox 7390 to autonegotiation 100/1000 I have to switch to GBit manually if i want to transfer large files with satisfying speed. AVM gets a ticket for this.

    regards.

I think there is a better "solution". My ReadyNAS products stream very nicely to my WDTV and my EVA9150s and NTV550s. Everything is connected to my gigabit switch, though of course the streamers are limited to 100 mbit connections.

The trick is to make sure the switch/router supports flow control (802.3x pause frames). And if you have jumbo frames enabled, you should try turning them off. Sounds to me like you should get a better gigabit switch, and insert it between the AVM and your NAS, computers, and streamers.
