RN102/104 Performance after 6.1.6
Hello friends
I just want to check if someone else have a similar problem as I do.
Here are results before reboot (uptime abt 1 day since last reboot)
NAS performance tester 1.7 http://www.808.dk/?nastester
Running warmup...
Running a 1000MB file write on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 51,48 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 50,41 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (W): 50,95 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Running a 1000MB file read on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 3,08 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 3,56 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (R): 3,32 MB/sec
-----------------------------
No problem with write speed. but extreamly low read.
Heres same test again after reboot:
NAS performance tester 1.7 http://www.808.dk/?nastester
Running warmup...
Running a 1000MB file write on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 45,34 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 50,53 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (W): 47,93 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Running a 1000MB file read on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 71,55 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 73,73 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (R): 72,64 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Any ideas? OS reinstall maybe?

- vandermerweMasterWhy?
Has the problem recurred? - MuppoAspirantI should have written more clearly.
I installed 6.1.6 riight when it went "public"
And since then I got the issue as described in above post...
Right after reboot it works just fine... then when hours pass it sinks in readspeed slowly.
Havent got exact times when it happens....but after aprox 24 hrs it is down to abt 3MB/s in read.
Wasnt like this before update.

Muppo - vandermerweMasterYou could try an OS reinstall
If the problem persists, check all your disks for errors.
If they're ok, contact support - HossaTutorHello,
I just saw the exact same problem with a ReadyNAS 314.
I have 4x4TB Seagate HDDs installed. Installed the official 6.1.6 Firmware, did a "Factory Reset" after that, because I had that huge performace problem caused by the failures in the file system.
Now I copied over all my files....in total app. 10TB data.
And now....from time to time, if I try to read data on the NAS the speed is extremely low!
App. same values as the first post!
As I have different hardware....and different HDDs....only the same Firmware.....I am 110% sure it is a software issue!
One difference.....when I had the problem.....and realized it was the NAS....I also did a reboot.
1. The boot took extremely long.....I almost thought it froze.
2. When the unit finally was done booting, the speed was still as low as before.
That caused me to think my network has a problem....but different tests showed me that it must be the NAS and not the network.
Conclusion:
The NAS is having very low read speeds from time to time. Other times the speeds are very good (over 80MB/s)
I can not reproduce the time when it is happening.
When the problem occurs a reboot does not always resolve the issue.
Can I help to find the solution for this behaviour!?
Cheers
Hossa
PS: I never thought of checking the write speed when it happend! Will try it next time! ;-) - vandermerweMasterHave you tried a direct NAS to PC connection?
Do you have the default mtu setting of 1500?
Have you checked all the disks for errors?
Have you filed a support request? - HossaTutor

No, I did not try a "direct connection" but I tried a different Switch with different cables!
Yes, I did not change the default MTU setting of 1500!
Yes, all disks are in perfect state!
No, I have not filed a support request.

Hossa - HossaTutorHello,
I already posted in another thread in the BETA area.
I now also experienced a total loss of the connection to my NAS.
But only during the first file copy after the NAS has been rebootet or startet!
Anyone else with this problem !?
Cheers
Hossa - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI suggest filing a support request.
- MuppoAspirantI have done an OS reinstall, uninstalled AV Plus and turned off AV, and after more than a week uptime my results look like this:
Running a 1000MB file write on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 52,20 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 51,95 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (W): 52,07 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Running a 1000MB file read on Y: twice...
Iteration 1: 77,29 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 78,15 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (R): 77,72 MB/sec
-----------------------------
So Im pleased, I haven´t noticed any dips in performance either.
