mdgm provided the procedure last time via PM.
I'd have thought that a bricked unit due to a failed firmware update would be treated as a hardware problem, not a software one. Perhaps try again with support, and tell them your unit is bricked.
Denial of support for issues like this is going to cost them business for sure.
