RN104 Error No Disc found after FW upgrade

Upgraded my RN104 to latest FW this week.  Worked fine - for two days.

Then it dissapeared from network.  When I checked it display said something with "Error Memory....."   Can't reacall exactly now.

Nothing worked...

Disconnected from Power supply (clabe) as nothing was working with buttons.

Now it woun't start - only giving "Err No disc found/fail"   Totally stuck.  Tried several times

I have had it for a few years. I have 4 quality discs in it.

Is there any siple way to know if discs are crashed, or if NAS has bad firmware?

Can FW be upgraded to solve?

If discs are bad, how to tell which one?  Can I recover it?   Aaahhhh!!   Luckily I have primary data on computers AND Dropbox

  • You might try reseating all the trays (NAS powered down).  If it still sees no disks, then I'd contact support.  The warranty is three years btw (not transferrable).

      Hi

Just wanted to get back here again on how I solved it.

First - thanks for replying with a suggestion. It also worked.

I tried this the day before and it was (still is) doing a "Re-sync" of all discs.

At first, when I tried removing trays, it didn't work. I tried several times, with several trays.

Also disconnected if from power and router. But at that time I only disconnected power cable for some 5-10 seconds. Didn't work.

Finally I was annoyed and let it be for a couple of days.

Decided to move it to a more convinient location where I could work on it more easily. That also meant leaving it off power supply for a longer time, at least 15 minutes.

This did the trick, in addition to removing all trays.

When I re-started it Booting occured as it should and it started a Re-sync

Now it seems to be OK
