RN104 Stuck in "Connecting to ReadyNAS Admin Page"

Really? So the solution is to abandon the latest update and just stick with the prior release going forward?
Will I ever be able to upgrade again? Is the update bad or just incompatible with the previous one? If incompatible, then it seems poor to automatically upgrade to a version that brakes the http auth process...
Maybe I'll just grit my teeth and perform the factory update.

That is the work-around if the bug affects you (it doesn't affect everyone) until Netgear publishes a real fix.
I have the same issue. Please can you explain how to downgrade? I've only ever used the upgrade button!
First, find the zip file for the firmware you want to install. Just google with site:kb.netgear.com in the search string. Note Netgear says you need to stay within the major release number (e.g., you can downgrade to 6.10.x but not back to 6.9.x).
I don't know what you were running before. 6.10.4 has a bug related to "pull" rsync backups, so if you use those you should go back to 6.10.3 If not, 6.10.4 should be fine. Those two are located here:

Second, you download the firmware zip file for your platform (which in you case is arm).
Third, you extract the firmware image from the zip file (ignoring the release notes). For instance, ReadyNASOS-6.10.4-arm.img If you don't have a zip software package, 7-zip is a good free one for Windows. I don't use a Mac, but there are also free zip utilities available for it (izip being one).
The manual install is on the system->settings->update in the admin web ui - you click on the "manual update" control, and just follow the prompts.
If you can't log in at present, then start by browsing to https://nas-ip-address/admin (spelling out https, and of course using the real IP address of the NAS). If that doesn't work, then you'll need to do an OS reinstall from the front panel. Let us know either way (it'd be good to know if the https:// workaround works for you).
