RN314 randomly freezing shared folder - due to different hard disk drives?
When i copy a big amount of data to a smb share, the copy process freezes fro about 20 seconds (!) randomly during the copy process again and again.
While freezing the hard disk LED is on permanently.
I checked the processes, cpu, ram etc.
The bottle neck seems to be the hard disks.
there is only btrfs worker process active. (beside top and smb)
cpu and mem are fine as far as i can see.
iam not sure, but is a mixture of hard disk drives a possible cause for this?
in my RN 314 is currently plugged in:
Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632
Samsung HD204UI
Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632
Seagate ST3000DM001-1CH166
What i have to look for? Cache-Size? Transfer Rates?
Thank you!
A mix of hard drives won't cause your problem.
An unreliable drive of course will. Have you checked the SMART stats? A drive error that creates 20 second pause would almost certainly increase reallocated sectors, pending sectors, or ATA errors.

Hi, i just removed a suspicious hard drive - bam - there it is. This hdd WAS the cause for these random freezings. I will exchange her asap. Thanks for your hint.
