RN426 stuck on Booting after FW upgrade; can't access boot menu
My RN426 had been working fine (and all discs okay per RAIDAR) - though I hadn't rebooted in a while.
This afternoon I initiated a firmware update. I think this was from 6.10.4 to 6.10.8 though I can't honestly remember. The device didn't come back online and now just displays "Booting...". It is not visible in RAIDAR.
I have tried turning off / on several times but no change. I have tried pushing the reset button during startup to access the Boot menu (I had thought to attempt an OS reinstall) but that doesn't seem to work and it still gets stuck on "Booting...".
I would really appreciate any help on where to go form here.
Well - the problem resolved on its own. I was about to perform the USB Upgrade and I decided to fully power down the unit before doing so by flicking the switch on the back of the unit off. When I restarted it successfully upgraded and restarted without any further intervention.
I have no idea if this was due to powering down fully, removing and reinserting the discs (seems unlikely) - or neither.
Thanks to those that offered advice.

If you power down the NAS, remove the disks, and power up, do you get the normal "no disks" status?
(Label the disks as you remove them, so you can return them to their proper slots).

Thank you for the reply.
No - it still hangs at "Booting..."

Then it sounds like you need to do a USB recovery. (How-do-I-use-the-USB-Recovery-Tool-on-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system)
