RNDP 6310 Doesn't BOOT. Stuck at ReadyNAS screen
Hi everyone, first time on this forum but looong time Netgear fan.
I have an NAS Pro 6310, that isn't working. I have bought this unit off eBay thinking I might be able to get it working. So far, no luck, huge expense for nothing.
This is my first NAS unit. What I have done, I have plugged in a hard drive and when turned it on it displays ReadyNAS, all the lights and fans are on but doesn't do anything else. I have been on the phone with Netgear, they have tried to help but to no avail. I have no idea what else to try, I'm starting to believe its a hardware issue which also I can't seem to find anywhere for replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Any comment will be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredBuying units second hand off sites such as eBay is very risky.
When you attempt to boot the NAS what light pattern do you see? Do any lights come on?
Can you access the boot menu?: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
Welcome to the forum! - RaedyNAS_UserAspirantHi mdgm,
Thank you for your reply and sorry for taking so long to come back with the answer. Basically there isn't any pattern. When I press the power button the led comes on and on lcd it says ReadyNAS. Nothing more, nothing changes. I have tried to reset it following Netgear set of instructions, different hard drives, bought another ram stick, still the same. This is eating me alive. I have found what I believe it is the BIOS chip on eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130933038385?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 ) exactly like the one inside so I am buying this one hoping it will came back to life. Other than that I have found another Winbond chip under the motherboard and if this replacement doesn't do I will try that one next. I am also looking for other alternatives to the motherboard since I can not find a replacement.
I know I shouldn't buy from eBay, the ad was missleading and there was someone else that have bought one of these and got it running by replacing the RAM. Me, I always have to work twice than most for the same thing :D . I will get it sorted in the end, I almost always do, because I always wanted one of these but could never afford the price. So yeah, any help, no matter how big or little will help me. Thank you again for your help  - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou should try hooking up a VGA header cable and seeing the output (if any on that). Changing BIOS or winbond chips would not be the first thing to try. Changing the BIOS chip may make the problem worse in the likely event the BIOSchip is not the problem.
