save an ICSI LUN to a USB disk
Hello,
I am looking for a solution to save an ISCSI LUN automatically to a USB disk conencter on the NAS.
Is it possible ?
If so, how to proceed ? 2 Replies

An iSCSI LUN is just a reserved amount of raw drive space to the NAS. Only systems accessing it see the file system, so it's not possible to use a backup job for it since they are file based. ReadyDR can back up a LUN, but only to another ReadyNAS or another volume in the same one, not to a USB drive. I know that the other volume can be in an EDA500 or equivalent, but I don't know if it works on a single-drive eSATA enclosure. It has to be a BTRFS subvolume, and I've never created on on an external drive except in a EDA500.
Netgear is behind on this one. The competition has a way to do it.

Thank you for your reply.
Other brands allow LUN copying to a USB device.
Too bad that is not the case with Netgear.
