Script Admin Password Change
We currently deploy over 100+ ReadyNAS devices in our organization, all with the Egnyte StorageSync app loaded. Our organization hosts the majority of its files in Egnyte.
Now that we have this many devices deployed, we are now concernt about security of these devices, namely the local admin password to the "admin" user account. While we can manually log on to each web admin page to update the password, we are looking for a way to script updates to all devices to reduce errors.
I managed to come up with a script in PowerShell that will automatically SSH into a ReadyNAS device and update its admin password. I also had this script vetted by one of Egnyte's Tier 2 top support experts. His response was, however, that Netgear does not support any SSH access to thier NAS devices.
Without exposing the exact lines of script, this PS script essentially logs into the ReadyNAS deivce via SSH, and executes a set of Debian Commands loaded from a script file.
Question: Will Netgear support this method of updating the local admin's password?

Their ssh policy is https://kb.netgear.com/30068/ReadyNAS-OS-6-SSH-access-support-and-configuration-guides

Support may be denied if it is determined that actions taken through SSH have contributed to problems encountered on the ReadyNAS.
Based on this, I'd say that using this script will not result in denial of support. But the usage itself is at your own risk.
Note that I do not work for Netgear.

The issue is whether or not I can get Netgear to "bless" my solution.
Currently I don't have any device inside the 90-day support window for complimentary full support.
I do have a few devices incoming and will try to open a ticket.
If they "bless" my solution, I'll share the actual script here.

Well, their stated policy says that they won't "bless" it, but they won't "curse" it either. We'll see.
You could still share the script though, there are plenty of folks posting ways to do things with ssh.
